Begin!

Jiff has come back to blogging after three weeks away from cyberspace. She posted a profound post-Christmas reflection by Howard Thurman that goes so well with what Dr. Martin Luther King said in the post below that I'm copying it here. Thank you, Jiff!

When the song of the angels is stilled
When the star in the sky is gone
When the kings and princes are home
When the shepherds are back with their flocks
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost
To heal the broken
To feed the hungry
To release the prisoner
To rebuild the nations
To bring peace among the people
To make music in the heart.

–Howard Thurman

And I knew I loved this from before--I posted it last month as What We Must Be. (Thanks again for that, Mike!) Maybe I'll learn this lesson if I keep seeing these words, reading them, and even posting them again!

AMEN! Beautiful. And, I like the John Wesley quote on the right side bar too. Happy New Year, Jan!

Serena, what's funny about that quote is that it reminded me of John Wesley's exhortation, so I had to go find that and put it on the sidebar! They certainly go together. And I need the reminder often about NOT being a TRIFLER!

this is a wonderful poem. I have it in my sermon file, but haven't been able to use it yet.
