An email resource

You may or may not remember the Bruderhof "Daily Dig," which no longer exists. In fact, I posted one example from 2003 here. When I was searching for links to the Bruderhof, I found information about another source that emails quotes now. It is from Church of the Saviour in Washington, DC! (It spawned many ministries, including the Servant Leadership School.)

The email source is called Inward, Outward. If you go to this page, you will find the readings for the past week, with links to other readings. Today's reading, which also was emailed to me is:

A Gospel That Unsettles

by Oscar Romero

"A church that doesn't provoke any crises, a gospel that doesn't unsettle, a word of God that doesn't get under anyone's skin, a word of God that doesn't touch the real sin of the society in which it is being proclaimed - what gospel is that? Very nice, pious considerations that don't bother anyone, that's the way many would like preaching to be. Those preachers who avoid every thorny matter so as not to be harassed, so as not to have conflicts and difficulties, do not light up the world they live in."

Oh, I strive to be that kind of preacher-- who provokes, in love.

Oh, and I also ordered Mystical Hope, completely because of your suggestion! Thanks!

What's your new blog about?

Thank you for this quote. My son and I went to a fantastic protest on Saturday up in LA and they had a giant puppet of San Romero and the litany of Latin American martyrs with "Presente!" I prayed for his intercession in becoming a more faithful bishop in both prophecy/social justice and devotion/prayer....
