Off in Siberia

My friend MTH told me about her father, a devout United Methodist, who smuggled Bibles into the Soviet Union back during the Cold War. She and her mother worried that he would be caught and sent off to Siberia. MTH's father told her that "his soul would would be well" even (and especially) in Siberia.

In the years before he died, he suffered from Alzheimer's and lost the knowledge of the identities of people he loved. MTH was (and continues to be) consoled by the memory of her father's words, because she realized that his mind was in Siberia. Even with his mind gone, his soul was well.
