U. S. Drought, especially TX

US Drought Monitor, August 25, 2009

Drought Monitor

Rain clouds today, but only 1/4 inch of rain. Last week we had 1/3 inch of rain. This is the most it has rained in over three months. We are over 15 inches below normal for 2009 rainfall here--in south TX.

15 inches is the yearly average here in the south SF Bay Area. And when I lived in Mapleton, Oregon, the average was 150 inches!

It does look bad in south Texas.

Where I live we would love to practice the Marxist idea of 'From each according to their ability. To each according to their need.'

A cold cold wet wet Summer graces the Heartland.
